Winter has a way of creating a deep boredom within me that eventually inspires all kinds of dreams. Like home renovation projects. The idea of moving to a farm. And mostly, travel. Lots and lots of far flung travel adventures are dreamt up in the depths of winter. Like, an Arizona Photography Trip.
Maaike and I met about 6 years ago…by chance. I had just moved to Newport and was working a few odd jobs, including babysitting. Maaike found me on Care.com. In fact, I was the first sitter she hired! After our first meeting we knew we had to be friends. Maaike already had her photography business and encouraged me to start mine! Fast forward 6 years and here we are the best of friends and fellow creatives!
We planned a walk in late March and at the end, realized, we needed a photography trip to get us inspired for 2019. A few weeks later we booked a trip to Phoenix, Arizona and had our sights set on a 3 day adventure in Sedona and the Grand Canyon.
Having never been out west, my expectations were low. I had no idea what to expect. So when we woke up that first morning in Sedona, I was completely blown away by our surroundings. They don’t call it Red Rock State Park for nothing. The beauty of these red rock formations agains the blue skies was impressive. The smell of the clean desert air was refreshing. And the photography was on another level. We spent 3 days hiking, eating delicious southwestern food for every single meal, shopped for the perfect turquoise stone to bring home, and road tripped with the tunes blasting and the windows down.
A complete trip of a lifetime and we can’t wait to go back for more!
