There’s something so special about getting to photograph a family through all of life’s milestones. I first met Amy and Steve when they got engaged, and I’ve had the joy of capturing their wedding, their growing family, and now—baby number two on the way!
When they reached out to share their exciting news and plan a pregnancy announcement session, they knew exactly where they wanted to go: the Dunes Club in Narragansett, RI. It’s where they said “I do,” and it holds so many cherished memories for both of their families. What better place to celebrate the next chapter?
We met on a quiet morning when we had the beach completely to ourselves! Big brother Peter ran around in the sand, proudly holding the sonogram photo, completely unaware of how much his world is about to change. Watching him explore the shoreline, climb the deck steps, and peek into the iconic Dunes Club bath houses made for the sweetest candid moments.
This session was a perfect blend of classic and playful—some more traditional family portraits (ideal for announcements and frames!) alongside lifestyle-inspired candids that captured the real energy of the morning. With toddlers, I always make space for movement, curiosity, and giggles, and Peter gave us plenty of those.
The nautical setting—weathered dunes, whitewashed beach houses, and open ocean views—offered a timeless backdrop that tied in beautifully with their story. It was nostalgic in the best way and felt like a full-circle moment from their wedding to now. The perfect setting for a nautical pregnancy announcement.
1. Choose a meaningful location. A place that holds history for your family makes the photos even more sentimental—and that emotion comes through in the images.
2. Think about timing. We shot in the early morning for soft light and empty beaches. The calmness made it feel like we had the world to ourselves.
3. Embrace the toddler chaos. Let them roam! The most heart-melting images are often the unposed ones.
4. Incorporate simple props. A sonogram photo, baby shoes, or even a “Big Brother” shirt can add a sweet touch without feeling staged.
Photographing Amy, Steve, and Peter again was such a joy—and getting to celebrate this next chapter in a place so close to their hearts made it all the more special.
Here’s to growing families, salt air memories, and little brothers on the way 💙
