They say its good luck to have rain on your wedding day…well what about a hurricane?? Just ask Courtney and Dan about their Shelter Harbor Hurricane Wedding and I’m pretty sure they’ll tell you it was extra good luck.

Courtney and Dan met in 2016 and Weekapaug, Rhode Island has been the hub for the last 6 years of their dating life together. They were both drawn to the welcoming, beach community as well as the beauty of the area in the fall season. A wedding at Shelter Harbor Golf Club was the ideal spot!

As with all weddings, we had all been tracking the weather over the last 10 days. Sure enough, Hurricane Ian made landfall in South Carolina as a Category 5 Hurricane in late September and was tracking for New England in time for the weekend. I showed up to Courtney and Dan’s Rehearsal Dinner on that Friday night and we all knew it was inevitable. Tears had been shed and anxiety had been high, but now it was time to PARTY! Courtney and Dan took it all in stride and impressed me with their grace and go with the flow attitude the whole weekend.

I pulled up to the Weekapaug Inn in the morning with 40-50 mile an hour winds blowing. But it was warm and cozy inside, with the whole bridal party in good spirits and ready to celebrate the day. I loved Courtney and Dan’s coastal blue invitation suite and Courtney’s flower girls reaction to her wedding gown was the highlight of the morning!

We transitioned over to Shelter Harbor Golf Club for the first look and formal portraits. We snuck outside for about 20 minutes in between showers to get some of my favorite portraits of the whole day! Gotta keep an eye on that radar!

The ceremony and reception were full of joy, beautiful details (hello champagne wall!) and time with friends and family. Toasts were tear inducing and Dan had Courtney spinning all over the dance floor. Couldn’t have asked for a better night under a big white tent with the sweetest couple – the perfect Shelter Harbor hurricane wedding! Congratulations Courtney and Dan!!
