This Boston harbor yacht wedding for Sarah and Brendan brought together timeless tradition and a intimate, nautical feel right in the heart of the city. We started the day getting ready at the Boston Harbor Hotel, the perfect setting for quiet, anticipatory moments. Sarah wore a classic cowl neck gown with pearls, while her bridesmaids dressed in deep navy. Their invitation suite hinted at the day ahead with a blue watercolor buoy motif and a sailor’s knot.
Sarah and Brendan stepped out onto the harborwalk for their first look. Warn blue sky and sun came shining through, bringing a fresh energy to the waterfront. We used the classic brick walkways and harbor views as a backdrop, which felt distinctly Boston—rooted in historic New England charm that tied the entire setting together.
From there, we made our way to Gate of Heaven Church. Sarah and Brendan’s Catholic ceremony felt deeply rooted in tradition. The scale of the architecture added a sense of grandeur, while the flower girl and two ring bearers brought a playful contrast. Every moment felt intentional and meaningful.
After the ceremony, Sarah and Brendan joined their guests aboard the Valiant with Charles River Boat Company for an unforgettable reception on the water. Live guitar and banjo music set a lively mood for cocktail hour, while guests explored the boat’s beautifully detailed interiors.
I moved around the yacht capturing Sarah and Brendan in the galley, out on the bow, and inside the captain’s cabin. They leaned into the setting with captain and crewmate hats, while the ring bearers wore striped sailor caps. These small details made everything feel personal and fun.
As the boat cruised through the harbor, the light changed again. Sarah added a fur shawl, and I stepped outside with Sarah and Brendan for sunset portraits. The sky turned vivid shades of orange and deep purple, reflecting across the water.
Back inside, Sarah and Brendan listened to heartfelt speeches as the sun dipped lower. The teak wood bar and warm interiors gave the space a swanky, intimate feel. Guests gathered around cocktail-style stations, including a comfort food setup that kept things social.
As night fell, the city lights reflected gold across the harbor. The energy picked up on the covered deck with more live music and dancing. A custom buoy reading “The O’Connors Est. 2025” perfectly anchoring their wedding design.
This day balanced elegance and ease so naturally. From a traditional Catholic ceremony to a lively celebration on the water, Sarah and Brendan created a wedding that felt true to them—and exactly what a Boston wedding should be.
