Some days its hard to believe that I’ve lived in Rhode Island for 7 years. Especially when I realize how small Rhode Island is and how many places I have yet to explore in the last 7 years! The beaches have grown on me. Growing up in Virginia we always went to the Carolinas to dip our toes in the ocean and walk the beaches. When Allie and Owen reached out to schedule their engagement session, they were excited to plan an East Matunuck Engagement Session! I had been to Matunuck Oyster Bar 5 years earlier to sling back oysters for my mini-moon. Embarrassingly enough though, I’d never been to East Matunuck Beach. And man was I in for a treat!
An East Matunuck Engagement Session was the perfect location and coastal vibe for Allie and Owen. These two have spent many Rhode Island summers lounging on the beach, fishing on the rock jetty, waving to the Block Island Ferry and enjoying time on the coast with friends and family. Owen even got down on one knee at the “baby beach” of East Matunuck! They read my Engagement Session Guide and came well prepared with champagne, picnic blanket, and fishing rod. They were the perfect tour guides to show me around. I fell in love with the wide open beach, quaint beach cottages, and sunset over the jetty! I am not a big fan of fishing because I don’t have the patience. However, I may change my mind after seeing Allie and Owen sit and enjoy the sunset overlooking East Matunuck beach with a line in the water! A great excuse to bring my family back to East Matunuck this summer!
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, September light is magic. And Allie and Owen’s East Matunuck Engagement Session light did not disappoint! Let’s hope we get that same soft glow at their Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding in August 2020!
