An Intimate Wedding in Westerly, RI

Why Choose an Intimate Wedding?

When Covid took over our lives 5 years ago, intimate weddings became the norm out of necessity. And after a few months, I quickly came to realize that they truly are so special. An intimate wedding offers more meaningful moments, deeper connections with guests, and the freedom to craft a day that truly reflects a couple’s love. A smaller guest list also allows the couple to invest in meaningful details.

In November 2024, Tara and Tom got married at the Weekapaug Inn and had an intimate reception for two at the Ocean House. You’ll see in the images that Tara designed an elegant day, with an attention to the perfect details.

The Perfect Setting: Weekapaug Inn & Ocean House

Weekapaug Inn and Ocean House provide the perfect setting for a refined yet relaxed coastal celebration. Tara and Tom set up a waterfront ceremony space tucked into the inn’s landscape. They overlooked the harbor as they shared their vows and sealed it with their first kiss. Their adorable fur babies also got a front seat to their pawrents intimate wedding.

After taking bridal portraits on the docks and around the Weekapaug Inn property, we headed over to Ocean House. The couple had rented the Carousel Suite with their own private gazebo overlooking the beaches in Watch Hill. The iconic, luxurious Ocean House was ideal for this sophisticated seaside dinner.

Designing Your Intimate Wedding, Your Way

Even now that we are past the pandemic, I feel like more couples are craving a more intimate wedding that suites their needs. Here are a few ideas of how you can design your wedding, your way.

  • Hosting a weekend experience with a welcome dinner, brunch, or a sailing excursion.
  • Personalized details like handwritten notes for each guest or a curated tasting menu.
  • A relaxed timeline to savor every moment instead of feeling rushed.
  • With fewer guests, you can create a full experience in a destination wedding, whether it’s a European villa, a coastal New England escape, or a charming countryside setting.

The Celebration You Truly Want

I think if I had to do it all over (all in theory of course!), I would choose the intimate wedding. I would encourage all my couples to embrace the wedding they truly want, focusing on the experience, not expectations. If a wedding like Tara and Tom’s speaks to you, I’d love to talk details and see if my photography might be a good fit!
