Colorful Coastal Wedding

Kelsey and Salem’s colorful coastal wedding in Newport this summer was hands down one of my favorites from 2023. These two had the most authentic smiles, vibrant pastel details, and classic style. Kelsey said she was going for the 3 C’s – classy, coastal, and colorful. I’d say she nailed it!

I connected immediately with this sweet couple last year. They are both graduates of the University of Richmond, which is about 5 minutes from where I grew up. They both have this calming nature, genuine authenticity and elegance about them. The kind of people who just wrap you in a hug upon the first meeting.

Their colorful coastal wedding was one of the few weekends that didn’t rain this summer! A good omen for sure. Salem and his groomsmen arrived to the ceremony by launch. It was so fun for guests to see them arrive by water. The ceremony took place on the dock surrounded by friends and family. Kelsey’s mom walked her down the aisle and there wasn’t a dry eye around. Since Kelsey and Salem chose not to do a first look, this moment was so special for these two.

The party started after the couple said “i do”! Guests enjoyed appetizers and views of the yachts in the harbor, while we did family and bridal party portraits. I LOVE how some of their couple portraits turned out on the dock – that bow on Kelsey’s dress was a showstopper!! And the pastel florals by Fresh Foraged Design were stunning!!!

The sun started to set right after everyone headed into the tent for the reception. We popped out for my favorite spot on the docks at Regatta Place. I really appreciate whoever has the yacht “Defiant” docked alongside the ceremony tent – it makes the perfect backdrop for sunset photos!

The night finished up with an incredible choreographed first dance, followed by espresso martinis and dancing to The Silver Arrow Band!
