Know those old Jcrew ads with models sporting all things preppy and chic on glistening yachts? Yeah. I remember them too. And Hannah + Andrew could have been those models! Their nautical engagement session in Newport was everything those ads were…except we didn’t even have to leave the dock!
When they asked if they could do their engagement session in Newport around the water and docks, I knew just the place. In the summer I have dear friends back from my boat captain days who leave their yacht on Goat Island for the summer. Lucky for us they were in town and willing to lend us the yacht for a nautical engagement session! Thanks Bob + Kristin!!
We spent the first hour or so roaming the docks at Goat Island, climbing aboard “Naia” and pretending to be yachties, and seeking out all large American flags. The best part was that Hannah + Andrew were so. darn. easy. to photograph. At the beginning they claimed they’d be sooo awkward and had no idea what they were doing. Wrong. They were naturals from the start!
We left Goat Island just before sunset and scooted over to Ocean Drive to explore a few of my favorite spots. The sky was usual for August – gloomy blue grey skies with a smell of looming rain. Hannah + Andrew didn’t let any hint of rain get in their way! We ended at the rocks off Brenton Point and I love how dramatic the last shots of their nautical engagement session turned out!
August 30, 2019 – can’t wait to celebrate Hannah + Andrew at their wedding!!
