It’s hard to believe that Savanna and Matt are coming up on their one year wedding anniversary! Their traditional chic New England wedding at Gooseberry Beach Club in Newport was just a Featured Wedding in Newport Life Magazine! In honor of this sweet client, turned friends (love when that happens!), I’m sharing all the beautiful details on Savanna and Matt’s classic wedding here.
Savanna, being the southern belle from Texas, has embraced all things New England in her move to be with Matt in Rhode Island. That’s why when they were planning their wedding day, it was important for them to showcase the charm of Newport to their friends and family who were traveling from far away! A Traditional chic New England wedding style was perfect for these two. They chose the local, historic United Baptist Church for the wedding ceremony. This location felt welcoming and sacred to both families. It was an intimate ceremony with beautiful hymns in a space that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Unfortunately the weather was less than ideal on May 19 last year. Luckily, Savanna + Matt had the sunniest of dispositions about it. After all, its good luck when it rains on your wedding day (or so they say)! And we were so fortunate to sneak in the family photos outside the church in a clear moment! Just as we finished up, the skies opened up! Everyone hustled into the Newport Trolley for the short ride over to Gooseberry Beach Club.
When we arrived at Gooseberry the soft twinkle lights inside created a magic and warmth. The room was covered in pink and white floral centerpieces, traditional pale pink china and stemware adorned the tables, and the curtains were pulled back from the French doors in the back to give guests a view of the scenic coastline. The most sentimental piece of the evening was Savanna’s paternal grandparents wedding cake topper! Savanna being an old soul at heart, this piece from the 1950s was so special. And how could we forget the groom’s Murphy’s Irish Stout cake as a nod to his Irish heritage!
After a night full of toasting, photo booth fun, and dancing, this sweet couple left the reception in a confetti fanfare as Mr. and Mrs! Happy (almost) one year anniversary to these two!
