Tiverton Family Session

Sapowet Marsh, Tiverton | Fall 2023

One of my favorite families in our hometown chose to do a Tiverton Family Session this fall. I’ve photographed a number of sessions with the E family as they have grown their family over the years. It’s always fun to see how the girls grow and change at each session.

This fall we were celebrating baby Nora’s first birthday and the family altogether in a spot they frequent often, Sapowet Marsh. The light at sunset in this location, no matter the season, is stunning. The sun sets over Portsmouth in the distance and lights up the wheat fields with that farmcoast glow. A few feet away is a rocky beach with views of a marsh, as well as the neighboring shore and the Sakonnet river. This location always lends to a variety of backdrops in a short radius. It’s perfect for families with small children!

We started out in the parking lot with the fence line and sun setting over the field. The whimsical dresses Brittany chose for the girls really completed these images. I love the carefree feel these images have. We played some games (run around mom + dad), played chase + tag, and got a few chances to get each child individually. All of a sudden some clouds and fog filled in. Very on brand with Farm coast New England!

We headed over to the beach to snag the setting sun under the clouds, pick up shells, and get those last smiles in before the witching hour. I love the end of a session when everyone can let loose. Kids true personalities shine. Kids shoes come off. And it usually captures the real essence of the family. It was a beautiful night for a Tiverton family session.
