Summer on Cape Cod brings a certain energy. Sun-filled beach days, salty air, and that unmistakable golden light make a Chatham family photo session feel especially magical. This session with the “H” family captured exactly that.

Tucked away on one of Chatham’s more secluded beaches, we had the kind of evening every photographer hopes for. The crowds were minimal. The air was warm and breezy. And most importantly, the light was unreal—soft, golden, and glowing across the sand, sea grass, and marsh.

Even more meaningful, this session captured a fleeting moment. At the time, they were still a family of three, with baby brother on the way.

A Quintessential Cape Cod Summer Evening

From the start, everything came together so effortlessly. Their outfits leaned into a subtle patriotic, coastal palette—navy, white, and classic patterns that felt perfectly at home on Cape Cod. Dad wore an American flag sweater, mom chose a navy dress with delicate white polka dots, and their daughter’s nautical print tied it all together – all quintessential KJP.

As we moved through the session, we made the most of every corner of this beautiful location. First, we wandered along the dunes, where the tall grass caught the light in the most beautiful way. Then, we spent time along the shoreline and near the lifeguard stand, soaking in that soft, golden glow.

Finally, we ended at the wooden footbridge over the marsh, where the setting sun created the dreamiest, light-filled backdrop to close out the evening.
