Sudbury Family Session

Wayside Inn Grist Mill | October 2023

This Sudbury Family Session at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill was absolute fall perfection. We met early in the morning of October 15th to beat the crowds and get the best toddler attitudes! I have known Anna and Jeff since I photographed their Block Island wedding in 2016! Over the last 7 years these two have both become doctors, moved twice, and had 3 beautiful children! I was SO excited when they moved up to Boston and reached out to schedule a family session.

I was coming from a wedding in Marblehead, so we met up at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA to take advantage of the beautiful October foliage and a free morning for this busy family. I had no idea what a busy place this is! A photographers dream location for a fall session…and by the time we left there had to be at least 10 photographers working with clients in the area. Popular spot!

I loved the small area we had to work with, along with the magical glow of the fall morning light. I didn’t focus too much on the mill because the foliage and natural beauty was the best backdrop for this family. The kids were eager to explore and it made the session fly by! Like most of my family sessions, I like to structure it with posed photos first, followed by time to play and capture those candid moments. These three kids were full of personality and loved doing twirls, throwing rocks in the water, and running back and forth along the paths. It was a bit of a chilly morning so all this activity really helped everyone get through the chill.

I’m excited to offer more family sessions in this spot next October – maybe even some fall mini sessions?! Stay tuned for Sudbury family session in 2024!
